What does Remote.com’s fee include?

The $599 EOR fee covers legal employment through Remote’s owned local entity, locally compliant employment contract, payroll processing and salary disbursement, employer tax filings and statutory social contributions, core statutory benefits administration, offboarding and severance administration, a dedicated onboarding specialist, access to Remote HR, and free API access with integrations via Zapier.

Included in contractor management at $29/month: localised contract creation, invoice approval workflow, payment processing, tax document generation, local currency payments, and access to Remote HR.

Two details distinguish Remote’s inclusions from competitors: benefits administration is passed through at cost with no admin markup (some EOR providers build administration margins into benefits costs), and offboarding and severance administration is included in the base fee.

You pay the statutory severance itself as a pass-through, but Remote does not charge a separate administration fee for managing the process.

What costs sit on top of Remote.com’s fee?

Employer statutory contributions. Government-mandated costs that exist regardless of which EOR you use, and they dwarf the platform fee. Germany adds roughly 20-21% of gross salary; France pushes past 40-45%; the UK adds approximately 13.8%; Brazil reaches 30-35% of gross.

For a $100,000 hire in Germany, you are looking at approximately $20,000-$21,000 in statutory costs before the $7,188 annual Remote fee is added. When the first invoice lands, the employer contribution line will be the largest number on the page, so prepare Finance for that conversation before contract signature.

Currency conversion. Remote applies a proprietary “Remote FX Rate” to invoices where salary currency differs from your billing currency; the markup over mid-market is not disclosed, so ask your account team for the rate methodology before signing.

For a 25-person team with $1.75 million in annual gross payroll in non-USD currencies, even a 1% spread represents $17,500/year. Ask your account team for the specific FX rate methodology before signing.

13th and 14th month salary. Mandatory in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, and Austria, billed at cost. For a $100,000 hire in Brazil, this adds approximately $8,333 annually.

Supplemental benefits. Anything beyond statutory minimums is quote-based. Remote passes these through at cost without an admin markup, but budget $100-$600/employee/month depending on market and coverage level.

Visa and immigration. Available in approximately 20 countries at $50-$2,000+ per employee depending on complexity. Separately priced per case.

Offboarding and severance liability. Remote manages the process; you pay the statutory severance. In high-protection jurisdictions like France, Germany, or Brazil, that can be 3-12 months of salary depending on tenure and local law.

The real cost differences show up in deposit policy, FX transparency, and add-on pricing rather than the management fee itself.

The deposit difference is material. Remote requires no deposit.

Deel quotes a security deposit by country, which can tie up meaningful working capital up front. If your CFO views cash-flow impact as part of total cost, Remote wins this line item outright.

Your Legal or Compliance team needs to confirm the employing entity in every country without caveats, or you are building software/biotech/creative work where IP ownership must be locked down via IP Guard. You are hiring in high-complexity jurisdictions like France, Brazil, or Germany, and a misclassification fine or failed IP assignment will cost more than the annual fee difference between Remote and a budget provider.

When it is not. Your hiring is concentrated in low-complexity markets like the UK or Canada where cheaper providers offer adequate compliance coverage, your budget ceiling is below $500/employee/month, or you need coverage in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, or most of Africa where Remote lacks owned entities. Teams scaling past 100 employees and needing enterprise-grade payroll consolidation will also find Remote short.

For teams under 5 employees in low-risk markets, budget alternatives to Remote make more sense.
