Does Payfit have a mobile app for employees?

No. Payfit’s employee self-service is browser-based only; there is no native mobile app. Employees can access payslips and submit leave requests via a browser on a mobile device, but there is no dedicated iOS or Android app.

Xero provides Xero Me, a dedicated mobile app for employees to access payslips, leave balances, and submit expenses.

Which is better value at 50 employees: Payfit or Xero?

Xero Ultimate at 50 employees costs approximately £105 per month. Payfit Standard at 50 employees costs approximately £359 per month, a difference of around £254 per month, or over £3,000 per year. Payfit Standard includes leave management, onboarding, and P11D automation.

Whether the HR features justify a £3,000 annual premium depends on what those features replace. If you currently pay for a separate HRIS plus a P11D service, Payfit may be competitive. If you do not, Xero is substantially better value at this headcount.

Do both platforms handle UK statutory pay correctly?

Yes. Both Payfit and Xero Payroll handle Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP), Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP), and Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) correctly, including the small employer’s relief calculation where applicable.

Payfit’s UI for managing statutory absence events is slightly more automated; Xero requires the payroll administrator to flag the absence and Xero handles the calculation and HMRC recovery from there.
