How is severance calculated in Romania?
| Statutory severance |
There is no statutory formula for severance or redundancy pay in Romania. The Romanian Labour Code (Law no. 53/2003) does not mandate a minimum severance payment for individual or collective dismissals for reasons not related to the employee. Any entitlement to severance pay, and its calculation method, is determined by the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) at the company or sector level, or by the individual employment contract.
