How is severance calculated in Norway?
| Statutory severance |
There is no general statutory formula for redundancy or severance pay in Norway. An employee's right to severance pay is not established in the Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven). Entitlement typically arises from a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), an individual employment contract, or a negotiated severance agreement upon termination. The only statutory payment obligation upon termination is the employee's regular salary during the mandatory notice period.
