Statutory severance pay is a multiple of the employee's average monthly earnings, based on continuous length of service with the employer. The entitlement is triggered upon termination by the employer for specific organisational reasons (e.g., redundancy, business closure, relocation) or by mutual agreement for the same reasons. Service of less than 1 year: 1x average monthly earnings. Service of at least 1 year but less than 2 years: 2x average monthly earnings. Service of at least 2 years: 3x average monthly earnings.
